CAPM Certification FAQs

How much is the CAPM certification exam?

The exam fee for taking the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) is $225 for PMI members and $300 for non-members.

Is CAPM hard to pass?

The CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) exam is considered to be less challenging than the PMP exam, but it still requires diligent study and preparation. At 1st Choice Project Management Training we will prepare you every step of the way to successfully pass on your first attempt.

What are the eligibility requirements for the CAPM certification?

In order to be eligible to take the CAPM exam you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
·         Secondary degree, such as a high school diploma, GED (general educational development), or global equivalent
·         At least 23 contact hours of project management education completed before the exam

How long is the CAPM exam?

The CAPM certification exam contains 150 questions that must be completed within three hours.

Do I need a degree for CAPM?

No, a degree is not required to earn a CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification. However, candidates must have a secondary diploma or equivalent and complete 23 hours of formal project management education before taking the CAPM exam.

Will CAPM get you a job?

Earning a CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification can improve your job prospects in project management and demonstrate your commitment to the field. However, obtaining a job ultimately depends on your individual skills, experience, and the job market demand in your area.

Can you put CAPM after your name?

Yes, once you have earned a CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification, you can use the credential after your name to indicate your professional achievement. For example, “John Smith, CAPM.”

How long is CAPM valid for?

The CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification is valid for three years. To maintain the certification, candidates must earn 15 professional development units (PDU) during each three-year period. The CAPM certification can also be used in place of the 35-hour education requirement for the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.

Can you get a CAPM without experience?

Yes, candidates can earn a CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification without prior project management experience. However, candidates must complete 23 hours of formal project management education before taking the CAPM exam.

How many attempts are there in CAPM exam?

Candidates can take the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) exam up to three times within one year of their eligibility period. If a candidate does not pass the exam after three attempts, they must wait one year before reapplying for the exam.

Is CAPM an open book exam?

No, the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) exam is not an open book exam. Candidates are not allowed to bring any reference materials or electronic devices into the testing center.
